Survivor Katie and Fallout NV

So I've been playing Fallout New Vegas lately, and it's gotten me in the mood to make my own stuff for it, scavenge existing stuff for it, and generally build my own take on the game experience. So this is my space for notes on ideas of mods I'd like to build or combine.

Functionality Mods

  • Capbreaker - Combine various cap-breakers into fewer and more convenient packaging (DR and Resist Cap remover, Pickpocket Chance Cap remover, VATS chance cap remover, etc).
  • The PACK - The Pip-Boy Augmented Control Kit is essentially my take on the VAPS from Fallout 3, redone with more functionality and features.
  • Energy Management - Combines several mods that extend energy ammo types (adding empty states to existing power cells, adding drained and empty states to fission batteries, possibly adding more cell types, and adding various ways to recharge these cells including generator activation, devices with cell charge capability, building new cells from components, and converting readily between empty, drained, bulk, standard, overcharge and max charge cells given sufficient power.

Equipment Mods

  • Let's Go Crafting - Take the components of Craft Master and Craft Pack, and make them compatible with various other things; get those special ammo types to work in a lightweight and compatible way; field-strip and rebuild your own parts; and much, much more.
  • Let's Go Shooting - Based on the developments in Let's Go Crafting, this aims to provide a wide variety of ammunition types, bringing together the various good ideas and realistic ammo tpes in existence.

Major Expansion Mods

  • Doomed - A take on bringing the familiar characters of the Doom series into an environment the player can interact with. Possible alternate titles: Memento Mori Non Potesse (Remember that you cannot die) and Obliviscere Vitam (Forget Life). (Memento Mori's already taken by the WAD pack, after all.)
  • Virtual Reality Gaming Console - A possible way to add this and other mods in a lore-semi-friendly manner, by handling them in a manner similarly to Operation: Anchorage or Tranquility Lane in Fallout 3.
  • Wasteland Empire - Whether you choose Mr. House, the NCR, the Legion, or trust only yourself to rule, build a wasteland empire and restore life to the New Vegas desert. Supply your empire with equipment, food, and ammo to keep them strong. Build new towns and command existing settlements! The idea essentially is Real Time Settler taken to its logical conclusion.

Recharge Your Batteries

As we see in later Fallout games, power cells can be recharged; this just makes it actually work in Fallout 3. Ideas include a portable version you can use on the go, and a workbench version you can use in your player house, as well as an industrial variant located in certain power plants and businesses, and a Red Rocket variant that requires no service from you to get working, but costs Pre-War Money to use…

The most logical items to 'recharge' with such a station would be Energy Cells, Electron Charge Packs, and Microfusion Cells. Fission batteries would be an ideal component to build a recharger with, as they appear to be built as independent power sources. Alien weaponry would logically be incompatible, and Mesmetron cells seem to be custom-built for the gadget and therefore likely not safe to recharge.

Power Types

Fission Battery: This is supposedly functional as a self-contained power source, equivalent to a small generator. One fission battery can provide power to a house or other reasonably small building without requiring a power grid, or power a single high-power-using machine or robot for an indefinite period of time. They act as continuous power sources and cannot be drained through normal means. Fission batteries are used when building a railway rifle, and restoring power to items like the express elevator at the Statesman Hotel.

Energy Cell: This standard energy cell is used as ammunition by low-powered energy weapons, as well as a lightweight short-term power source for machinery. It is likely

Electron Charge Pack: Used in high powered / rapidfire weapons like the gatling laser.

Microfusion Cell: Used in certain very high powered single or low-'magazine' weapons.

Microfusion Breeder: Introduced in New Vegas, this is essentially a self-recharging power cell.
