Financial System
The financial structure of After the Darkness involves a number of peculiarities left over from the wartime era.
Bank Accounts
Bank accounts are supported and accessed by the Traders Consortium, and have the following features and drawbacks.
There are two types of bank account in the TC - Standard Accounts, which are accessible by anyone, and Trader Accounts, which are accessible by the trader system only.
There is a maximum insured amount cap determined by the TCB - any money in an individual account above this amount is taxed, and anyone who is above this amount does not receive interest.
Bank accounts can be accessed in towns, as well as in fortresses with an ATM upgrade.
High-Ranking Player Tax
At certain level caps, players pay higher prices for goods – level 10 to 19 pays 10% above appraise price on items, level 20+ pays 25% more. May scrap this.
Tax Redistribution
Money taken from taxes and large bank balances is redistributed amongst all players with less than half the current cap value in their account.
The Commodities Market
The Commodities Market is a booming industry for people who don't mind carrying large quantities of scrap around - all you do is bring your pile of scrap materials in, sell them at the local price, and profit! Prices for various commodities vary based on supply (how many people have sold recently) and demand (how much stuff the location makes that requires that commodity). Areas suffering from an extreme shortage may even stop making certain goods. Wouldn't want that, would we?
Most commodities are not extremely high in value - in part because while you can buy low and sell high, you can also pick up discarded garbage in the wasteland and put it through a Recyclotron to shake out usable commodities. This can be worth more than the 'standard price' of the item, in some cases.
