Whartonville

The town of Whartonville, in the Wharton State Forest in southern New Jersey USA is where our team of Hunters live.

In and around this area, you can find almost everything you need. Still, it's a rural area. For excitement like gambling or sporting events, you would travel to Atlantic City or Philadelphia. Both are about 45 minutes away in opposite directions.

The Wharton soil is sandy; the trees are pines, oaks and cedars. The water that flows in the rivers and collects in ponds is brown cedar water, the color of iced tea.

Local wildlife includes seagulls, turtles, bobcats, wild turkeys, coyotes, and the occasional bear.

Longtime residents, especially ones that live deep in the woods, are known as Pineys. People from Philly travel through the forest on their way to the Jersey shore. Locals call them Shoobies.

Your local convenience store is the Wawa. Your grocery store is Shop Rite. You get your gas at Hess, but it's illegal to pump your own. They have attendants for that.

Pleasant Mills Cemetery

With a church founded in 1802, some of the graves date back to the Revolutionary War.

Joseph Wharton is buried here.

A nearby grave, from 1887, bears the inscription:

*Farewell my wife and children dear. I am not dead but lying here. Prepare for death for die you must. And in your grave lie in dust*

The ghost of Charles Henderson, a bespectacled older gentleman, haunts it.

A dapper older gentleman with spectacles rises from the grave. “Who disturbs my slumber?”

Only Erin can see him. The rest of our hunters just feel a sudden breeze as the air grows colder.

McCain Farms

Founded in 1982, this farmstead is home to the McCain family.

The Mean Bean

Coffee shop / cafe owned and operated by Jenny Lee and Michael Malone. The hunters often meet at this Innocent Front. Gil works here. Michelle DMs D&D here

Batsto Village

A historical village in which bog ore was harvested and iron manufactured. Later they switched to glass production. Now a historical site open to the public.
