Ally Encyclopedia
A synopsis of the various allies that the PCs have worked with, in a generic form, worth reviewing when determining combat strengths.
Krytar
Dark Elf Shaman
The Shamans of the dark elves of Krytar work powerful darkness magic, giving them the ability to turn a shadowy corridor into a weapon. They also use a purple-colored fire they call balefire to illuminate the tunnels just enough to let them see long distances without providing their opponents much benefit. They are the effective priests and priestesses of the goddess of dark elves, Jarillia.
Dark Elf Footsoldier
They may not be well-trained, but the rank and file of the Krytar army are men and women defending their homes as best they can against an enemy that wants to enslave them and thinks of them as little more than food and toys. They typically use spears or daggers forged from salvaged metals and tuskwood from tuskan mushrooms, or equipment dropped from Avalonian conscripts, and usually have little in the way of armor beyond ragged clothing.
Dark Elf Warrior
These dark elves have accepted the likely death and possible capture and prolonged suffering that comes with fighting heavily armored men with only simple swords made from broken shards of Templar blades, leather armor made from the underpinnings of Templar armor or spidersilk armor when available, and impromptu shields made from bits of Templar plate. Still, they are giving up their lives to defend against the invaders, and as such they are the cause of most deaths amongst the Reach's invading forces.
Dark Elf Crossbowmen
These men and women are armed with homemade crossbows made from tuskwood, spidersilk, and recycled materials from invaders. Their range advantage and superior tunnel vision makes them a deadly threat against invaders who manage to get deeper into the caverns.
Giant Spider
It is worth noting that the dark elves have giant spiders on their side, controlled by the shamans and by Jarillia, who are well-cared for. They also provide silk from which spidersilk armor and garments are made; it is likely that with the pause in conflicts they will be able to focus on producing this silk to cloth their people in more than rags salvaged from enemies.
Avalonian
Honor Guard
These forty men and women are Leopold's elite guard, many of whom have grown up with him. They are almost fanatically loyal to him and have protected him from assassination attempts, fought with him in combat, and were unjustly sentenced to be flogged and enslaved by the Church after foiling one such attempt on his life that left him critically wounded and comatose.
Avalonian Footsoldiers
These people were press-ganged into military service by the Church, and issued leather armor, spears and daggers. Their responsibility was to hold the line against dark elves coming out of the tunnels, and as such they often developed little in the way of combat experience and received little training.
Avalonian Infantry
These were members of the Avalonian army that received some actual instruction in the use of weaponry and had arms and armor from their service; they were usually sent directly into the tunnels to fight with the dark elves in close quarters when available as the Church's spear-fodder to keep Avalon's military strength controlled.
Avalonian Knights
Fairly rare due to the Church's constant draining of talent from Avalon to fight this protracted war, the Knights of Avalon are idealistic men and women who are well-trained in battle and who are equipped as well as Avalon can manage.
Reformed Templars
This force of Templars had a conversion of faith upon witnessing the terrible fury of the Wanderer, and are undergoing rehabilitation to work on his behalf. They are still a significant threat in combat, even without the enhancement drugs and divinity, and some are haunted by their deeds, while others merely accepted the offer to switch careers out of self-interest when they realized that there was a God and he was -pissed-.
