Guide to Space Pods

A space pod is a single-person vehicle that can fly through space, as though it were powered by a jetpack. They can be built in the Pod Bay, or found in random locations in space.

Building

Materials

To build a pod, you may need the following:

  • 100~ × metal
  • 10 × rods
  • 25 × glass
  • 17 × Phoron sheets
  • 1 × Uranium sheets
  • 1 × Cable Coil
  • 1 × Space Pod Mainboard
  • 1 × Space Pod Core
  • 1 × Space Pod Armor (Civilian)
  • 1 × Wrench
  • 1 × Screwdriver
  • 1 × Welding Tool
  • 1 × Wirecutters

Space Pod Construction

Throw some glass and metal into the fabricator, queue up the four space pod frames and let it begin building.

After they're all complete, align them, in four squares to form a box shape until symmetry is formed.

If you did it right, it should look rather like an octagon.

Use a wrench to secure the bolts of each frame piece down.

Now, have your fabricator begin fabricating the Space Pod Armor (if it is not already in the workshop)

Use a stack of 10 rods on one of the machine frames to create the pod frame.

Wire the pod frame.

Adjust the wiring with a screwdriver.

Install the Space Pod Mainboard.

Screwdriver to secure it.

Install the Space Pod Core.

Wrench it into place.

Install a stack of metal for the pressure bulkhead.

Wrench it to secure it.

Weld it.

Pick up the Space Pod Armor, and jam it into your Space Pod.

Wrench it.

Weld it to complete the space pod.

You've now completed the first real step to getting lost in exploring the beautiful void of space.

Oh god how do I get out of here?

Your pod can fly under/through the top two entrances/exits of the “Pod Bay” also known as “Airtight plastic flaps”. So just go full speed out into the vast emptiness of space after your pod is finished.

Maintaining your Space Pod

Space pods are similar to mecha, in that they use energy to power the craft.

Removing the battery

  • Eject the battery by smacking the pod with a crowbar.
  • Insert new battery.

Repairing your Space Pod

  • Acquire a welder with fuel.
  • Use it on the pod to buff out any dents in it.

Deep Space Exploration System

A revolutionary new device that works like a space “sonar”. Uses powercells, and is able to locate structures in a 25 tile radius around itself consuming 250w per pulse. Can hold 2 modules that modify the behaviour of the device. Must be printed on the Pod Fabricator or Protolathe, or purchased for 200c on the trade vendor.

Modules

  • DSES Ping Long-Range Listener: Doubles the range and power cost per pulse. Can stack with itself for massive 100 tile radius-1000w pulse.
  • DSES Ping Resource Optimizer: Halves the power cost per pulse. Can stack with itself for 63w pulses.
  • DSES Ping Resonation Locator: Shows the cardinal direction of the nearest structure but not the distance.
  • DSES Ping Resonance Logger: Stores the coordinates of the successful pings.
  • DSES Automated Ping System: Turns the pulse system into a toggle, pulsing once every 3 seconds.
  • DSES Ping Distance Approximation System: Shows the distance to the latest ping. Can be used in conjunction with the Locator module for max accuracy.
