Congratulations, you are a xenoarchaeologist, responsible for investigating alien architecture in order to learn important things. Technically, you're more of a xenopaleontologist, but NovusCorp isn't keen on the distinctions when there's science to be done.
Required knowledge: Guide to Xenoarcheology
Round-start to-do list: None.
Main tasks: Suit up and go digging!
Main problems: Some alien artifacts you dig up may kill you, or the rest of the crew. Be very careful!
Bare minimum requirements: A hankering for history and a desire to explore strange new worlds.
Preparing for New Worlds
You're responsible for:
- Exploring strange new worlds with your Explorer and Curator buddies.
- Finding interesting new artifacts to unearth.
- Explaining what culture they're from and what they mean together.
- Keeping the Curator from wandering off with your finds before you've documented them properly.
- Delivering anomolous artifacts to the Researchers to test and hopefully not get killed by.
Your Chain of Command
As a Xenoarchaeologist, your immediate superior is the Research Director, and your coworkers are the Curator, Researchers, Explorers, and other Xenoarchaeologists in your department.
Tips
- Above all else, Xenoarchaeologist is a roleplay-heavy role; you write up your findings and submit them to the NovusCorp Archaeological Ventures Board, and you may be rewarded with research grants, personal rewards, or research points for your department based on the quality of your presentations. Who said compiling reports was useless?
A Bone to Pick
Traitor Xenoarchaeologists have a job that mostly keeps them out of everyone's sight, and an excuse to return to the ship when they need to. A few lucky finds in the dig site and you might just find yourself weapons and artifacts of great power… or a half-dead alien battery and an iridium bowl.
