Liberal Daily Activities are capable of being undertaken by any full-time Liberator, and include a variety of legal, illegal, and shady activities.
Community Service is always legal, and Liberators cannot be arrested while performing Community Service even if there are warrants for their arrest.
No requirements are needed to provide Community Service. Skills and attributes possessed by the Liberator may influence specific Community Service performed.
Performing Community Service improves public view of Liberator Respect slightly.
Members performing Community Service recover 1 Confidence per day if Confidence is currently negative, and lose 1% of their current Heat per day (to a minimum of 1 point). They may also train very slowly in skills relevant to the specific type of community service being performed (working in a soup kitchen may increase Cooking, for instance.)
Community Service refers to providing free assistance to the community without expecting recompense of any sort; volunteering at the local clinic or shelter, picking up trash along the highway, cooking or serving food at a soup kitchen, or other good deeds of volunteerism are excellent examples. Court-ordered community service (if implemented in the game and issued as a sentence) provide all normal benefits, though failure to do so within a reasonable span of time is often a violation offense.
Liberal Disobedience may result in charges of Disturbing the Peace or Loitering. Wanted Liberators may risk being approached by law enforcement even if not currently breaking laws.
Persuasion is required to change public opinion; Street Sense is required to avoid police interest; Martial Arts may be required to defend yourself if attacked by counter-protestors.
Successful Persuasion may improve public opinion regarding Animal Rights, Gay Rights, Abortion, Police Brutality, Nuclear Power, Pollution, Death Penalty, Human Rights, or Torture.
Multiple liberals add scores together to measure overall effect as well as to reduce the chances of being attacked by a mob of counter-protestors.
Earn 1 Confidence per day (up to 40 max) for legal activities such as posting pictures or distributing flyers. Earn 2 Confidence per day (up to 40 max) for misdemeanors such as disturbing the peace; these run the risk of attracting police attention. If public sentiment is mostly Conservative, there is a risk of being attacked by an angry Conservative mob; if such occurs, earn 5 Confidence (up to 50 max) for scaring them off with a weapon, or 30 Confidence (up to 300 max) for trouncing them in a fight. Lose 10 Confidence (as well as all other consequences of physical injury) if beaten senseless by a mob.
Liberal disobedience refers to general acts of public nuisance to bring attention to liberal causes by increasing public awareness. Some acts may count as misdemeanors (property damage, for instance), and wanted Liberals may be police targets as well.
Liberators who spray graffiti are committing an act of Vandalism.
Success of graffiti is based on the Art skill. Success at evading the law is based on Street Sense.
Increases public opinion slightly on various issues.
Depending on skill roll, earn between 1 and 6 Confidence (to a maximum of 20 x the Confidence bonus.)
Spraying graffiti is illegal, but is a good way to get the message out - more importantly, it builds artistic talent, which is useful for many things.
Searching opinion polls is legal as long as you have legal access to a computer.
Computers skill is needed to gain more accurate information.
Displays an estimate of the current state of public opinion. Those with poor skills will have a higher margin of error due to finding more biased, misinterpreted, or otherwise bad information.
Harassing online sites is generally at least annoying and may be illegal if the target chooses to prosecute and can trace the attack to its source.
Computers skill and Internet access are important to conduct harassment campaigns successfully as well as to evade being tracked for their crimes.
Website harassment has a minor impact on public opinion on a random topic, or sometimes multiple topics.
Harassing websites successfully requires minimal skill with computers, and is unlikely to provoke police raids or other hostile activities. It also very gradually builds computer skill, and has a small impact on public opinion on a random topic.
Hacking websites (unlawful computer access) is a felony crime, in most cases, and may be more severe based on the target.
