The first inhabitants of Sunrise Island were Uktena tribesmen who were spreading away from the human habitations of the mainland. They named the land for the first light of the day which touched the easternmost rock before anything else and they made their Caern deep in its heart, where the spirits of the sea and the land joined together.
For centuries, this was a haven for Garou. The Pure tribes would journey here to bathe in the spring and to commune with the sea. It was in these times that the island became a quiet haven for cubs who needed stronger guidance and instruction in the way of Garou society.
