Deklar is a world in conflict, mostly between the major nations of the world (Astor, Arinthal, Avylyss, Beklar, Bryb, Eio, and Llyneweth being the ones nearest our adventurers' starting point), as they jockey for position and resources amongst themselves. Currently, the countries of Astor and Arinthal are most aggressive, and the hostilities have continued for 150 years, since the crowning of Queen Margoreth Illysanas, a high elf with high expectations of her subjects, who shows significant disdain for newly crowned emperor Wagner Bodkinson, a hill dwarf from the queendom who emerged from the Glories as a rising political star in the merchant world and who has more or less bought his way into the empire's politics, as most do.
