**Background:**  43 year old Buddy Guy (born Guy Budziszewski ) was born in Philadelphia's Port Richmond neighborhood to a pair of poorly educated Polish immigrants. His parents wanted their children to embrace their adoptive country and the educational opportunities there. They worked hard to put their children through school, and stressed that they should go to college and get good careers. The youngest of five children, Guy preferred more active pursuits to schooling. He excelled in athletic pursuits, and showed a special talent for baseball. He played in Little League, and on his high school team. He did a brief stint at college, but he was drafted by a minor league team and dropped out to pursue baseball full time (much to his parents regret). He married his high school sweetheart Milicent Meers shortly after. 

He was drafted to the major leagues, and soon found himself in demand as a pitcher. His unpredictable style was called the Fly Guy.  When it was successful - it was very, very successful. But when he was off his game, it could lead to disastrous results. That bit of chaos and Guy's flamboyant personality made him a fan favorite.  He and Millie had two children together, Mathew and Amber before they called it quits due to the pressures of him being on the road and her being tired of raising two young children alone. A bit of infidelity was involved on each end as well. 

Three years after the dissolution of his marriage, Guy was drafted to the Philadelphia Phillies - and they were going all the way to the top, thanks in large part to his pitching. He was on top of the world - until one fateful pitching streak that gave the opposing team three runs in a row on the last game of the series. They'd lost, and Phillies fans knew who to blame - the 'Fly Guy' and his wild pitching. Furthermore, he was suspected of steroid use - and though an investigation found him innocent, he was still a pariah on the baseball scene. The Phils dropped him, and no other team would draft him.

Spending quickly through most of his fortune supporting his lavish former lifestyle (and paying alimony and child support to Millie and kids), Buddy found himself a fairly broke and unpopular Guy who didn't have any real direction in life. Seeking to get away from where everyone knew (and despised) his name, Buddy moved to (Name of Town Here) and started coaching the minor league team there.

He remarried a second time to Candice Drake, and had a third child, Jacob. Jacob is now ten years old, and Buddy has been divorced from Candice for the past five years. They share custody of Jake, with Buddy getting weekends and summer visitations. 

Two years ago when Buddy's mother died of cancer, he packed up his senior citizen father from his now rather bad neighborhood in Philly and moved him down to (name of town) to live with him. His father is taking retirement and the loss of his wife somewhat unwell - and is prone to complaining about everything from the weather to the temperature in the house to the state of the world as opposed to when he was young. Buddy puts up with this fairly patiently, but he's been trying to find some kind of hobby for his father to get into so he'll lay off the bitching. No success so far. 

Other than baseball, his dad and his kids, Buddy enjoys having a good brew with his friends down at the local sports bar, trying to do the local paper's crossword (and usually having to cheat on some of the answers), walking his dog (a golden retriever named Hank), listening to classic rock, barbecuing, tending his garden (he grows tomatoes and carrots primarily because nothing else seems to live), and watching war documentaries on the History channel.  He doesn't like talking to his ex-wives, talking about his failed pitching career, kids ridding their damn bikes through his garden, that 'crap and hiphop' music people are into these days, his neighbor Antoly (he's a commie!), Sarah Palin, celebrity hasbeen shows (they rejected him when he auditioned to appear on one), and broccoli.
