====== About World's End: Exchanging Your Currency ====== There are two local currencies accepted in all World's End stores and places of business, without exception: * Modern American dollars. People visiting from an American Earth parallel in the 1900s or later are likely to have their currency readily accepted without reservations, at roughly equivalent value. Money printed beyond 2012 is currently accepted only at whim of provider, however, due to the more limited market in trade with American countries that survived past this point; coins are always accepted. * Emps. These small black metal coins represent the native currency of World's End, and are issued in quarter, single, five, twenty, one hundred, and five hundred emp increments; emp-based credit cards are also available from the World's End Only Bank. Melting emps down or shaving them is highly inadvisable except in emergencies, as they tend to explode violently; fortunately, they seem fairly resistant to heat and shearing forces. People using any other form of currency (including off-world credit cards and money from mythical worlds) may exchange their currency at the following locations: * Chekhov's Bag - A pawn shop that deals in all manner of offworld goods, no matter how esoteric. Best value is around 10% of relative true value, though. * The Char Loft - As an interdimensional clearinghouse, the Char Loft tends to handle all forms of currency, but usually only exchanges them for goods and services. Some baristas do provide exchange, though; typical exchange rate is between 50% and 75% of true value, depending on the barista and the rarity and intrinsic value of the currency. * World's End Only Bank - The only bank in World's End offers competitive exchange rates and investment services throughout the omniverse, but internally tracks currency in emps. Exchange to //and// from the native currency to any offworld currency, //including// dollars, is performed at approximately 80% of relative true value, including value over time (hyper-inflated 2050 American dollars have less value than 1950 dollars, for example.) * Return to the World's End Guide
